talenttrends Org Chart
Your organisation. Every level. Live.
talenttrends Org Chart turns Cornerstone’s hierarchy data into a single interactive visualisation — reporting chains, approval chains, OU trees and individual relationships in one place. Embedded in Cornerstone, live from the talenttrends Data Hub. No more PowerPoint charts that go out of date the day after export.
talenttrends Org Chart
The problem
The org chart goes out of date the day after export
Cornerstone knows exactly who reports to whom, who approves what and how the organisation is structured. But this information is buried in reports, OU pages and profile views. Anyone who needs an org chart rebuilds it in PowerPoint — and never maintains it again. Until the next reorganisation, when it all starts over.
Maintained manually in PowerPoint or Visio
Every org chart is a snapshot that goes out of date the day after export. Reorganisations, new employees, manager changes — none of it migrates into the chart automatically.
Several files, never in sync
Every division maintains its own chart. No one knows which version is current, and no two match.
Only the reporting line visible
Who actually approves my requests? Who is my project lead? In a classic org chart, approval chains and matrix relationships remain invisible.
No searching, just scrolling
In an organisation with thousands of employees, a static picture is useless. You know the person exists — but you can’t find them.
What you see with it
Four hierarchies. One application.
The same organisation, four perspectives — switchable with a click, without changing the screen. That’s the difference between an org chart and a picture of an org chart.
Manager chain
“Who reports to whom” — the classic reporting line, top-down or bottom-up. Resolved recursively from any employee up to the top of the organisation.
Approver chain
“Who approves my requests” — often a different chain from the reporting line, especially in matrix organisations, with approval thresholds or cost-centre responsibility.
Individual relationships
Mentors, project leads, sponsors, dotted-line relationships — every relationship that Cornerstone knows via the relationship type catalogue. Org Chart detects available types automatically.
OU structures
Division, department, location, cost centre or any other OU type configured in Cornerstone — the organisational structure as a tree rather than as people, with localised OU names per language.
The technology
Built for organisations with tens of thousands
Org Chart runs in productive Cornerstone projects where we take responsibility ourselves. This is what’s behind it.
Four hierarchies, resolved server-side
Manager chain, approver chain, individual relationships and OU tree are calculated on the basis of your real Cornerstone data — not from a simplified or sampled version.
Live from the Data Hub
Org Chart works against your replicated data foundation, not against Cornerstone live APIs. No API throttling, no rate limits, full performance even during Cornerstone maintenance windows.
Built for large organisations
Only the visible subtree is loaded. Even deep, recursive hierarchy traversals are ready in milliseconds. Grows with your organisation without getting slower.
Read-only and parameterised
Fixed, versioned queries that ship with the application — not generated at runtime, not changeable via the interface. Strictly read-only. Org Chart cannot change data under any circumstances.
Permissions from Cornerstone
Who may see the chart is governed by Cornerstone’s native visibility rules on the custom page. Which columns appear at all is governed by the Data Hub’s data configuration. Fields marked as PII never appear in the chart.
No third party, no data leak
The chart renders via a single authenticated channel — no third-party CDN fetches, no telemetry leaks, no transmission of employee data to third-party services.
Prerequisites
What you should coordinate with us
Org Chart shows people, positions and relationships — that is, personal data. A clean rollout takes three points into account that we clarify together with you during onboarding.
Cornerstone setup
Org Chart needs data access to your Cornerstone portal — either via activated Cornerstone data interfaces and a dedicated service account, or via the talenttrends integration from the Cornerstone Edge Marketplace. The latter is the faster route, because authentication and scope are pre-configured.
Account for co-determination
In Germany, introducing Org Chart qualifies as introducing a technical system that presents employee-related data — and typically triggers consultation and information rights for the works council. We provide the documentation you need for these conversations. You lead the works council process yourself, not us.
Configure visibility
You determine two things: who may see the chart (via the visibility rules of the Cornerstone custom page) and which columns appear at all (via the data configuration of the Data Hub). Anyone who doesn’t want to show email addresses or photos in the chart, for example, excludes those columns at replication level.
Deployment
Your data, your infrastructure
Org Chart runs on the talenttrends platform and follows its three hosting paths — from our cloud to your own data centre.
SaaS with talessio
Fully operated by us. Fastest time-to-value. Hosting in Azure Germany West Central or with STACKIT — EU data residency, Schrems II-compliant.
In your cloud
Deployment in your own cloud subscription — Azure, AWS, GCP or OpenStack. Full control over network and data residency.
On-Premises
Runs in your own data centre. Maximum control. Your data never leaves your infrastructure.
Details under Security & Compliance. Details on hosting choice, responsibilities and migration between models can be found under Cloud & On-Premises.
