talenttrends Training Impact

Know what breaks before you change it. Every curriculum, every prerequisite, every affected learner — one dashboard.

talenttrends Training Impact gives LMS administrators and L&D professionals the view of everything that depends on a training — training models, curricula, prerequisites, pre- and post-work, equivalences — in one table, with affected-user counts, a criticality score and an interactive relationship graph. Live from the talenttrends Data Hub. No more clicking through admin pages, training by training.

The problem

Change impact analysis today means: opening every training one by one

This training is being retired — which curricula build on it? How many learners does the replacement affect? Cornerstone knows the answer: every assignment to models and curricula, every prerequisite, every equivalence is stored in the system. But the information is scattered across the admin pages of the individual trainings. Anyone who wants to assess the consequences of a change opens every training one by one — or maintains an Excel list that is out of date the moment it is saved.

Every dependency, a different page

Curricula here, prerequisites there, equivalences somewhere else again. For the complete picture of a single training: five or six click paths — per training.

Affected users? Unknown.

Whether ten learners or ten thousand hang on a dependency, no standard view will tell you. Yet that is exactly what determines how risky a change is.

No risk measure for changes

Which trainings are the most interconnected, where is a change most dangerous? Without a metric, prioritising catalogue clean-ups remains gut feeling.

The relationship network stays invisible

The prerequisite of the prerequisite, the curriculum inside the curriculum: nested structures are practically impossible to trace in Cornerstone.

What you see with it

Six dependency types, one score, one graph

Instead of six click paths, one overview: every training with everything that depends on it — which training models and curricula contain it, which trainings require it as a prerequisite, where it is assigned as pre- or post-work, which completions it fulfils as an equivalent. Every dependency with its count and affected users, every training with a criticality rating.

The dependency table

One row per training, six counter columns: training models, curricula, prerequisites, pre-work, post-work, equivalences — every cell with count and number of affected users. Sorted by criticality in descending order, filterable by any column, exported to Excel in one click.

The criticality score

0 to 100, four traffic-light levels from Low to Critical: 60% structure — curricula and models weigh more than equivalences —, 40% reach via affected users. No black box: the derivation sits in a tooltip on every row.

The relationship graph

One click on a training opens its relationship network: adjustable depth, relationship types shown or hidden via the legend, every node one click away from becoming the new root. This is how you walk through structures no table can show.

Detail & jump-back

One click on a number shows the list behind it — for training models including active/published status, for ILT automatically resolved as event → session instead of cryptic IDs. And every entry links via pencil icon straight into Cornerstone administration.

How it works

Connect, embed, assess

01

Connect

Training Impact connects to your Cornerstone portal via the official Cornerstone data interfaces — either via direct API access or via the talenttrends integration from the Cornerstone Edge Marketplace. Catalogue, structure and transcript data land in the talenttrends Data Hub, which Training Impact works on.

02

Embed

Embedded in your Cornerstone portal as a custom page. Single sign-on via Cornerstone itself — no second login. You determine who may see Training Impact via the visibility rules of the custom page — recommended: LMS administration and L&D.

03

Assess

On opening, the catalogue-wide overview loads: every training with at least one dependency, sorted by criticality in descending order. Narrow down via full-text search across all portal languages or via the filter builder — including your custom fields; your last filter is saved. Where a change is due: open the details, explore the graph, jump into Cornerstone administration with one click. For catalogue reviews: export the filtered view to Excel.

The technology

Catalogue-wide, read-only, no black box

Training Impact runs in productive Cornerstone projects where we take responsibility ourselves. This is what’s behind it.

Live from the Data Hub

Training Impact works against your replicated data foundation, not against Cornerstone live APIs. No API throttling, no rate limits, full performance even during Cornerstone maintenance windows.

Read-only and parameterised

A fixed, versioned query catalogue that ships with the application — not generated at runtime, not synthesised by an AI, not changeable via the interface. Strictly read-only. Training Impact cannot change data under any circumstances.

No model, no AI

Training Impact estimates nothing and generates nothing — it evaluates your Cornerstone structures deterministically. The criticality score is a disclosed formula, not an AI judgement: same data, same result, reproducible at any time.

Fast even catalogue-wide

The catalogue-wide overview computes with a single transcript aggregation instead of one per dependency; details are loaded on demand and remembered per training. Training Impact brings its own database indexes and creates them automatically in the Data Hub — no manual DBA work.

Honest at the limits

Very large result sets and graphs are capped visibly — notice banners instead of silent truncation. And the advanced filter is translated into parameterised queries: anything that cannot be translated safely is rejected rather than silently broadened.

No third party, no data leak

Table and graph render via a single authenticated channel — Training Impact even ships the graph engine locally. No third-party CDN fetches, no telemetry leaks, no transmission of data to third-party services.

Prerequisites

What you should coordinate with us

Training Impact is a governance tool for the training catalogue — and displays not a single piece of personal information: no names, no email addresses, no individual transcripts. Users appear exclusively as aggregated counts. Three points that we clarify together with you during onboarding.

Cornerstone setup

Training Impact needs data access to your Cornerstone portal — either via activated Cornerstone data interfaces and a dedicated service account, or via the talenttrends integration from the Cornerstone Edge Marketplace. The relationship and structure data — the heart of the app — comes from the Cornerstone Data Exporter; we coordinate the setup together with you.

Narrow down the audience

Training Impact is a catalogue-wide admin tool, not a team dashboard. Via the visibility rules of the custom page, you limit access to LMS administration and L&D — not least because the edit links lead into Cornerstone administration, where Cornerstone’s own permission checks apply.

Consider co-determination

In Germany, introducing a technical system can trigger co-determination rights for the works council. Because Training Impact shows only catalogue structures and aggregated user counts — no performance or behavioural data of individuals — the scope is considerably smaller than for team-focused applications. The contract nevertheless stipulates: Training Impact is a tool for catalogue governance, not for personnel decisions. We provide the documentation.

Deployment

Your data, your infrastructure

Training Impact runs on the talenttrends platform and follows its three hosting paths — from our cloud to your own data centre.
